Nokia launches 808 PureView with 41Mega Pixel camera

Nokia launches 808 PureView with 41Mega Pixel camera

The Nokia PureView Pro imaging technology is the combination of a large, super high resolution 41Mpix with high performance Carl Zeiss optics. The large sensor enables pixel oversampling, which will be explained in detail in this paper but in a nutshell it means the combination of many pixels into one perfect pixel. PureView imaging technology is the result of many years of research and development and the tangible fruits of this work are amazing image quality, lossless zoom,  and superior low light performance.Nokia 808 PureView

Purity of detail.
Even digital SLR images have a certain softness. With oversampling, however, images can be noise free, yet incredibly detailed and defined. Zoom into the 5Mpix images at 100% magnification on your PC screen, and you’ll see. There’s something beautifully pure about the detail — not enhanced in anyway. Look closely at some grass… it’s amazing.
Faster shutter speeds.
With the Nokia 808 PureView, you get effective maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. Whereas with optical zoom, less light tends to reach the sensor as the zoom increases. At maximum zoom, 5.4x more light reaches the Nokia PureView Pro sensor than a broadly equivalent optical-zoom digital camera (f/5.6 as opposed to f/2.4). And this means you get the benefit of faster shutter speeds.

Printing
If you rarely print your images or don’t need them larger than A3 size, 5Mpix is more than enough. In fact, you can get superb poster prints as large as 50 x 75cm (the size limit of most commercial printers) from very good quality 3Mpix images. Of course, if your needs are different, there is a higher resolution 8Mpix setting and a ‘full resolution’ mode on the Nokia 808 PureView.

Improved video autofocus
Video autofocus was an area that needed to be dramatically improved. Because of Nokia 808 PureView’s much larger image sensor (5x larger than rival smartphones) the optics give you a relatively shallow depth of field. What’s more, we’re also using oversampling techniques in video to achieve our holy grail of low visual noise with extremely high levels of detail.

Apple’s new iPad, now with a Retina Display

CEO Tim Cook introduced the newest, 1.4-pound iPad at a special media, invite-only event in San Francisco on Wednesday morning, hailing it as the next step in the “post-PC revolution.”

“In many ways the iPad is reinventing portable computing, and it’s outstripping the wildest of predictions,” Cook told audience-goers, adding that Apple sold 172 million post-PC devices in 2011 alone.

The new 9.7-inch iPad has 2048 x 1536-pixel retina display, 5-megapixel camera (with the same optics sensor from the iPhone 4S) and 1080p video recording. It is available March 16 in black and white, powered by A5X chip (with quad-core graphics) and supports 4G LTE networks. It’s 9.4 millimeters thick and 1.4 pounds.

12 Easy Ways to Extend Mobile Phone Battery Life

How to increase your mobile phone battery life? Most of the modern mobile phones come with good batteries, which last for years if used according to the manufacturer instructions. Latest and modern mobiles like iphone and android are energy hungry as it has more application and use up the battery power too faster, adding to this, most of the people ignore to turn off some of the functions in the mobile phone that use power.

Usually modern lithium-ion battery can power your phone for days in standby mode but all the unwanted applications and functions drain battery power quickly, decreasing the efficiency of the battery and its lifespan. To improve your battery’s performance and its lifespan, following are some simple and handy tips.

Extend Mobile Phone Battery Life

      1. Turn-off wireless connection like Wi-Fi if you are not using them. Most of the people leave Wi-Fi on even in the areas where there is no Wi-Fi network.
      2. Nowadays third generation phones are making their presence in the market. Mobile devices like iPhone 3G, Blackberry and other models have a 3G feature that is useful for fast browsing experience. Turn off 3G feature if you do not use it or if there is no 3G service. You can still browse internet using the GPRS and EDGE services with your phone.
      3. Vibrating alert is another big power hungry feature in the mobile phone. Using vibrating alert is good when you are in meetings or in a library, otherwise you can turn off vibrating alert. Moreover, there is no need of keypad tones and you can reduce ringing volume of the phone if you are not working in a sound polluted environment.
      4. Your mobile phone display also uses lot of power to illuminate. Reduce screen brightness to the lowest level possible where you can see things on the screen clearly. Moreover, all the phones have this time out feature: set the display light out time to low values such that the display will turn off quickly after your use.
      5. Keep your phone screen as simple as possible, using screensavers and animated wallpapers may look pretty but you must remember that they use up the battery power to stay running. If you want your battery to last longer, then you can turn off screensavers and stick to a simple wallpaper.
      6. In most of the smart phones, you can load number of applications and utilize them. Terminate applications as soon as you finished working on them. Pressing end key does not terminate the application, they still remain running in the background using up the battery power. You can see all the background applications running on your phone by long pressing the menu key and terminate all the applications that you do not need.

      1. Games are other power hungry applications, they use lot of power and most of the games do not allow the screen to dim or turn off. Play games less to save more on the battery. Even listening to songs and radio on the phone also uses lot of power. So think before you start playing games or listening to songs if you are on low battery.
      2. If your phone supports automatic updates of emails or browser then change the update intervals let us say every 1 hour or so to save more on the battery power. Try using few email accounts and disable automatic update feature if you do not really need it.
      3. Network coverage in another important factor that comes into picture when speaking about battery power. If your phone is in weak network coverage area or in no network area then switch off your phone orkeep it in the flight mode to save on the battery. In the less or no network area phone uses lot of battery power to stay connected or to establish a connection with the network.
      4. Turn off BlueTooth when you are not using it. Most of the people ignore to turn off BlueTooth even if they are not using any BlueTooth devices.
      5. Recharge your battery every now and then to ensure that all the electrons in the battery move freely. Modern Lithium-ion batteries work well even if you recharge them before they discharge completely but it is good habit to recharge it after three fourth of the battery is discharged. This will not only improve battery’s performance but also improves its lifespan.
      6. Avoid over heating of the battery to prevent damage to the mobile phone and to the battery. Keep your phone away from the direct Sun heat and any other radiations. Your phone battery works fine in the temperature range of 10 – 35 C.

How to Recover Deleted Pictures and Files from Memory Cards

Have you ever accidentally deleted pictures from your cameras memory card? Or pressed the Format button instead of delete button and wiped your card clean?

Perform a search on Google for recover photos from memory card, and you’ll find a ton of programs out there for sale. Most people don’t mind paying to recover some important pictures and that’s why those programs exist.

However, there are also a lot of good open source / freeware apps out there that can usually get the job done. And that’s where the nice people at CONVAR come in – offering a program called PC Inspector Smart Recovery, which can recover lost pictures for free. What’s even better is that it’s extremely easy to use and works well (based on my tests).

Please note that after you’ve lost the picture, DO NOT take any more pictures on the memory card, as writing new data to the card lowers your chances of recovering the picture. Also note, that recovering the picture is not 100% guaranteed, but there’s a good chance your picture will be recovered.

PC INSPECTOR Smart Recovery is a 100% free program, which can recover lost data from not only memory sticks, but also for any kind of memory device available nowadays (for the most part). If you’ve deleted any kind of file, you can usually rely on PC INSPECTOR Smart Recovery to recreate and reconstruct the file again, with great accuracy.

PC INSPECTOR Smart Recovery runs on all Win 9x, ME, NT 4.0, XP and Windows 2000 systems and supports the following picture formats: .jpg, .amr, .tif, .bmp, .gif, Canon .crw , Fuji .raf , RICOH .raw, Olympus .orf (E-XX), Olympus .orf (C5050), Nokia 3gp, Kodak .dcr, Minolta .mrw, Nikon .nef (D1H/D1X), Nikon .nef (D2H/D2X), Nikon .nef (E5000/E5700), Sigma – Foveon .x3f, mp4, QuickTime .mov (Konica Minolta). Video files in .avi, QuickTime .mov format and audio files in .wav, .dss format can also be recovered.

Using the software is straightforward and doesn’t need a detailed explanation. Simply plug in your memory device, run the program, and you’re set. But if you really want a step by step instruction, here it is:

Step 1: Download PC INSPECTOR Smart Recovery.

Step 2: Connect your memory card, either by a little memory card reader, or hook your camera up to the PC via the data cable.

Step 3: Run PC INSPECTOR Smart Recovery.

Step 4: Select the drive which is the memory card. It should be the one that has just connected.

Step 5: Leave the format type as .JPG.

Step 6: Choose a destination for the recovered files.

Step 7: Press ‘Start’.

If you are able to recover the picture, but you can’t view it, you may want to perform a search on how to view damaged or corrupted files.

As a test, I deleted some pictures from my Sony digital camera and ran PC Inspector to see if I could get them back. So far, it’s been able to recover the deleted pictures and videos as long as I don’t take any other pictures after the deletion. Good luck!

Wateen to Launched freedom booth

Wateen has approximately 1.5 million connections serving a population of over 18 million people, She believes it is necessary to promote the internet to the people of Pakistan and especially among the youth. Currently, Wateen has launched the Freedom Booths in select areas with extremely low internet penetration in order to generate interest in telecoms and internet technology.
The Wateen Freedom Booth contains a laptop fitted with a web camera and a telephone system through which consumers can make voice calls to their loved ones  and record the messages which they want to share with others.

Wateen is carrying out this experiential marketing activity in Multan, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Sahiwal and Sargodha, where the Booths are being taken to select public venues on the back of quad bikes. Members of the public will then be asked to record messages and ideas on how they feel they can help improve Pakistan.

Syed Jibran Ali, Wateen’s chief commercial officer said, “Currently, we are asking people to share their ideas on how they intend to make a change in society and help progress Pakistan. In the future, we also intend on utilising this content and sharing it through Wateen’s various media channels and cable network.”
Mr Naeem Zamindar, CEO Wateen Telecom said, “We are excited with the opportunity the Freedom Booths present – how these can revolutionise the use of communications on a global level and change the way we experience the internet. The Booths are also a great medium for people to experience the promise of the Wateen brand and the services we offer. I believe these will help people who have never used the internet before to experience its power and to bring about a digital revolution in Pakistan.”

A basic design of old telephone booth fused into a new youthful techy look and feel. This tool is devised to allow the consumer to express freely and create user generated content. The booth consists of an internet connected machine with a specially designed application. A simple navigation app, which allows users to register at first step and then record their expression on given topic. Further users can also surf internet and make free telephone calls.

A call out to masses to come and record their message for pakistan. The communication focuses on liberation of expression and  positive usage of it. People are asked to talk positve about your country and make your self and others feel good about pakistan.  The content generated will be filtered and posted on Wateen’s, You tube channel and can be shared with friends on facebook. The video or audio getting most views will win a gift hamper.

Nokia 701 Price And Specifications

After reviewing the first of three new Symbian Belle powered smartphones, Nokia 700, we shift our paradigm towards the best of them all i.e Nokia 701. Nokia 701 also runs the same Belle operating system and has 1GHz processor as its powerhouse. The Near Field Communications Functionality is also present in the Nokia 701 and it’s fun to use.

So far, Nokia 701 have the brightest screen with 1000 nits beating Nokia E6 (900 nits) in its own backyard. Compared to others like LG Optimus Black, Nokia 701 has 50 percent brighter outside. Nokia 701 could be tough competitor for the latest Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray in terms of pricing.

Design

In terms of design, Nokia 701 too comes in metallic body which we have seen in Nokia 700. Nokia 701 also has the same angular edges we found in Nokia 700 and you will get a feeling in some time that Nokia 701 looks similar to Nokia C7. Nokia 701 features a bright 3.5-inch ClearBlack Display which also has the IPS panel LCD. You can found the same Gorilla Glass Technology here which was used in Nokia 700 which means Nokia 701 do offers a good viewing angles and strong scratch resistant glass. The display of Nokia 701 offers a 640 x 360 pixels resolution which is highly responsible for three best things you will find in it- high and good brightness, vibrant colors, and amazing text. Nokia 701 also works beautifully under the direct sunlight.

Moving further, you can find the volume button on the left side with a Voice Command activator button in the center. The dedicated camera button is place on the bottom left and just above it you will find a spring lock button. The 3.5mm audio port is between the power button and micro-USB slot. And just a FYI here, Nokia 701 does not support USB-on-the-Go function.

User Interface

We highly praised the new UI of Belle series Smartphone previously and we will continue the praise with Nokia 701. We have already covered the features which Belle delivers but we will like to remind the new notifications area and we were indeed impressed. The home screens are spectacular and it becomes more spectacular with the inclusion of widgets and improved navigation. The touch screen of Nokia 701 is responds well when you work and play games on it.

Multimedia

Nokia 701 features an 8 megapixel camera with fixed focus and capable of recording 720p HD videos at 30 fps. The camera of Nokia 701 does click brilliant images with the help of dual LED flash. The real shame here is the lack of auto-focus in the video shooting mode and it has a “VGA!!” camera in the front for video calling. You will not be able to watch HD quality videos on it as it has a Broadcom GPU chip with 128 MB RAM. Nokia 701 also offers FM Radio and FM Transmitter.

Nokia 700 Price And Specifications

Being hailed as the most compact Smartphone till date by Nokia, Nokia 700 is finally here. Nokia 700 is the latest Symbian Belle running handset which is packed with a mighty 1GHz processor. Besides Nokia 600 and Nokia 701, Nokia 700 is another addition to this group which runs on Symbian Belle OS. Nokia 700 belongs to a mid-range smartphone and tends to attract mainly teenagers. Will this smartphone attract teenagers? Well, Nokia 700 is compact, has an attractive design, and a good screen which makes this smartphone more attractive. Another reason is the Near Field Communications feature which nowadays teenagers are finding it cool and classy. And for the Angry Birds lovers, Nokia 700 is a perfect contender for playing this awesome game.

Design

A first glance, Nokia 700 looks like a small handset. Nokia 700 has a metallic finish which gives you a superior feel. Normally, a problem occurs with some smartphones is that sometimes you can’t use the device with one hand and you can’t get the perfect grip. But here in Nokia 700’s case, you will not find this problem and that’s the beauty of Nokia 700. Nokia 700 will give you the “Perfect” grip which will also allow you to use this device with one hand. The amazing angular curves at the top and bottom also boost this perfect grip.

Nokia 700 features a nice 3.2-inch ClearBlack AMOLED touchscreen display which supports 360 x 640 pixel resolution. Gorilla Glass Technology is used to built a scratch-resistive capacitive display.

Below the display, you will find three navigational buttons with cool backlighting. The microUSB port lies on the top centre, charging point on the right and the 3.5mm audio port on the left. On the bottom, you will find its speaker which disguises you as a slider.

User Interface

With new OS comes a new UI. Nokia 700 features a fresh navigation and several improvements. You can observe the improvement in the home screen where six customizable home screens is included and you bet it’s smooth. Each home screen has its own wallpaper and the widget can be resized also. The clock on the top gives a sophisticated feeling. The status bar gives a new notification tray which offers four shortcuts. If at all any application is running in the background, it will display  a circular icon on the top left corner.

Multimedia

Nokia 700 is perfect for enjoying multimedia. The music has always worked as a magic wand for Nokia for years and the magic continues in Nokia 700. The music experience in Nokia 700 is flawless but many of you might complain the smaller screen size. Nokia 700 also has a stereo FM with RDS which gives better reception. The video player in Nokia 700 supports DivX, Xvid, MP4 and even .mkv file formats. Though, Nokia 700’s hardware is not that powerful to support the full 1080p HD video playback. An applause to the ClearBlack AMOLED display as it gives you a best video watching experience and watching movies in pitch dark is recommended.

Nokia 700 has a 5 megapixel camera with fixed focus and works great to capture an image quicker. It has one flaw and that is the close-up shots. The close-up shots are blurry. But photos clicked at normal, the image offers you a nice quality and crispness and that is also due to the AMOLED display. The real shame for Nokia 700 is that it doesn’t feature secondary camera for video calling.

Pros

  • AMOLED display with ClearBlack Technology.
  • Awesome user-interface.
  • Simple navigation.
  • Comfortable while holding.

Cons

  • No secondary camera.
  • It has only few compatible applications.
  • Blurry images in close-up shots.

Key Features Of Nokia 700

  • OS: Symbian Belle.
  • Processor: 1 GHz ARM 11.
  • Camera: 5 megapixels.
  • Display: 3.2 inches.
